Daybear is a platform that gives caregivers the opportunity to provide childcare in their homes, while offering parents a trusted source for finding safe, nurturing, accessible childcare for infants to preschoolers. Supported by technology, and powered by specialists, Daybear is changing the way communities think about childcare while giving people the tools needed to simplify the management aspects of running their own childcare business.
With our technology platform, we remove barriers between parents and caregivers, thus enabling thousands of jobs and taking away the hassle to finding safe, nurturing, available child care.
Daybear’s mission is to make safe, nurturing child care that fosters growth and development easily available to parents and loved ones of children under the age of five.
Daybear’s vision is to fundamentally change the way people think about child care. With our platform, we want to power communities where neighbors, families, and friends have the potential to support each other in raising children in nurturing environments, while also fostering local economic growth.
Originally from South Africa, Daybear Founder & CEO Mitchell Geere, is a self-taught designer and engineer, along with holding an MBA in Design Strategy from the California College of arts. With a lifelong love of technology, Mitchell considers technology as a medium to express the power of design and also a way to ignite purpose-driven ideas that will make great impact on the world.
Mitchell has co-founded four companies across a range of industries: food, online dating, medical diagnostics, and reseller marketplaces. He also held C-level positions at OkCupid Labs and PayPal. Mitchell’s multi-faceted background is combined with a humanist approach to everything he touches. He also serves on the board of a non-profit called Faces SF, focused on nurturing, teaching and empowering San Francisco’s underserved children and families and to transform their lives. Mitchell has taken all of these professional experiences, along with being a husband and a father, to making it his goal to help children have a better chance in life. With Daybear, Mitchell sees a path to doing this by enabling better access to quality childcare.
Daybear Co-founder and Head of Customer Growth & Experience, Stef Tousignant has had a passion for Early Childhood Education since learning the business of child care at a young age from her mother — also a seasoned educator and owner of high-quality education centers in Massachusetts. While working at the family's ever-growing chain of centers in design, marketing, and administration, Stef earned her degree in Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design. Observing children thriving cognitively and emotionally in spaces that honored their development, Stef continued her education at the Institute on Child Care Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design studying under the late childcare design pioneer and advocate, Jim Greenman.
Since becoming the mom of two boys, Stef has immersed herself in the national parenting industry, leaning on her child development background and marketing experience to reach the busy — and sometimes elusive — parent demographic. Her passion and deep roots within the ECE community offer the insight and prowess needed to reach Daybear's goal of eliminating the nation's child care gap. Her passion for the industry — something passed down from her own mother — continues to empower a generation of mothers striving to find a healthy balance between work and hands-on child care.
